Trimming

Tree trimming Venn diagram: Trimming includes pruning, view clearing and wind-sailing

The Tree Geek's guide to tree trimming terminology...

Tree trimmingis a broad term that primarily refers to the cosmetic trimming of trees to improve their appearance. When we trim for tree health or to increase fruitbearing, it’s technically called tree pruning.

When we trim to open up scenic views, we call it view clearing.

When trimming is focused on modifying the shape of a tree to reduce its danger of being toppled in high winds, we call it wind-sailing.

Is one tree trimmer better than another? You bet!

There are three key elements of quality you should look for:

  1. the sharpness of the tree trimming snips and saws. At AGTree, our equipment is always honed, sharp and clean.
  2. the horticultural knowledge of the tree trimmer — it takes training and experience to know where to cut for each species of tree. Some cuts wound a tree, and some make it healthier.
  3. the esthetic eye of the tree trimmer. When you’re in a tree, cutting away, you need an artist’s eye and a sense of perspective to know what’s going to make a tree look beautiful, or tack better in the prevailing winds … and what’s going to look like a bad haircut.

Count on AGTree personnel to deliver the highest quality tree trimming and tree pruning service in all 3 of these skill areas.
